Jason and I are proud to introduce to you the Sugar Land Skeeters. Hailing from the great State of Texas these guys will take the field in 2012. The name Skeeters was not only an incredible fit for the town of Sugar Land (Say it with a Texas twang and tell me it’s not perfect.) but just about one of the greatest names for a minor league team that I can think of.

It was a fun project to work on and Opening Day Partners, the guys that own and run the team, have so many great plans for that community. Sugar Land and the Skeeters will become a legendary baseball destination in no time. Behind-the-Scenes coming soon!

“Skaiters” ( texas twang) is actually the mascot of a high school in my hometown of Mesquite, TX. At first I didn’t know how I felt about the pale yellow, but it’s growing on me. Great work on this.

Perfection!

Erik – I am from Mesquite as well. (luckily I went to North, rivals of the Skeeters)

I remember last spring when I did my Minnesota Mosquitos design Casey said he always wanted to do a team called the Skeeters. Now he’s gotten the chance. (No, it doesn’t look a thing like mine!) I like their design a lot here. Should sell well. I just wonder how Plan B talked the team into the name.
So that’s four unveilings in about a month. Unstoppable.

As a Clinker AND as someone who grew up in Sugar Land, I must say I have mixed emotions about this project. First I am super excited about having minor league baseball in the city of Sugar Land, and second am very excited that Casey & Jason were involved in this project. The only disappointment for me (and many other Sugar Landers) is that everyone wanted the name to be The Imperials. The city grew up around the Sugar industry, hence the name, and Imperial Sugar was the driving force behind the town for many years that the name Imperials would have been the perfect fit. I guess in the end it came down to legal issue with the company which is too bad. It would have been free advertising in my mind, but it is what it is.
I hope in the end the name grown on everyone, and I am sure it will. The logo which contains the sugar cane letters at least is a hint at the history and heritage of Sugar Land. Top notch fellas!

I just read my previous post and the grammatical errors make me seem like an illiterate…appologies all. I canz tock rite.

I really love this identity package, gentlemen! Top-notch work. The pugnacious attitude displayed by the “Skeeter”. The sugar-cane font. The color palette. Sheer perfection. Kudos!!!

I, too, was pulling for the Imperials (which to me sounded like a sweet Motown band name) but I dig the wordmark and hat intials. I take it the colors are influenced by Imperial Sugar because I’m almost dead certain all the colors save black can be found on a sack of their sugar.
I’m just a little while north of Sugarland, so I’m bound to make it to a game next year with my kiddos in tow.

When will the hats with these logos be available? They’re pretty awesome!!

I wondered if you guys did this! I like the “SL” lockup.

Good looks, Casey and Jason. Looking forward to the B.T.S.
Thanks Jeff for the back story.

It seems like anymore when a new minor league logo comes out I cant tell in the first 30 seconds if Plan B branded it…I love how you maintain your own little personal style in each logo while still keeping them from looking similar at all…keep up the GREAT work!

Plan B’s work looks very much like Studio Simon’s, in my opinion. I
couldn’t tell on this one. Todd Radom has a similar style as well on
certain work. Joe Bosack Design has a different feel than the other
three. There’re some other Minor League Baseball teams out there
with good logos, but I can’t tell who did them. I live in New Jersey.
I like the Newark Bears logo, the bear in a batting stance with some
buildings in the background. Very cool.
