B.T.S. – Williamsport Crosscutters

I’ve noticed that sometimes our sketching style trend towards the illustration side and sometimes it trends towards the graphic side. I wonder what causes that shift. These seem to be more illustrational, maybe that’s because of the rich stories in that region- tales of lumber barons and lumberjacks.

  1. Erik pretty much said exactly what I was going to write. Amazing stuff here. I love the idea on the bottom one that there exists, somewhere in America, a mystical baseball field in the middle of a forest. Only the greatest ball players know where it is, and the most pure baseball ever is played there. In the top sketch the guy doesn’t seem like your style, but as you alluded to; style isn’t concrete, it’s fluid. Inspirations on certain projects can change the way you work. In the top one, is it just me, or does the saw over that circle make it look like a baseball where the saw is the stitching? Great stuff.

  2. Funny, I stumbled upon the final versions of these last night (my son’s league is doing all minor league teams this year and we… I mean I wanted to see what the hats would be). I was blown away by the forest field. It’s so moody and mysterious. I can smell the trees from here. This is a sleeve patch, right? I gotta see this embroidered.
