Aaron! Whoa, what a face on this guy. It’s crude but I like it. THe colors are all over the place but I like that too. I might bolden up the eyes and some of the non-fur features but for the sake of the contest one-n-done!
Nathan! This guys is awesome! Love the simplicity of the tire character. You need to the cut 2/3 of the smoke out of this thing though. Other than that, amazing!
Nathan! Is this a Wire reference? I think I remember something about burning cellphones. I think you should just make the cellphone black with a few highlights to give some definition. TOo many colors right now. But that “B” is bitchin.
Nathan! This is great! I love the storks head with the leather helmet pulled down over his eyes and the football all swaddled up is great. You kept the stork simple too and that’s great. Great story, great design, one-n-done!
Aussie Ry! Simple poignant iconic and with a bonus retro sleeve patch character too boot. One-n-done! Great work!![HOMETOWN LEAGUE [WALLSTREETERS] AUSSIE RY](http://www.theclinkroom.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/HOMETOWN-LEAGUE-WALLSTREETERS-AUSSIE-RY.png)
Jordan! Great re-do! longer nose really makes this thing go. Done!
Tom! Yes! An old vet. I LOVE this design. Iconic, specific, simple, beautifully executed. One-n-done!

Thunder’s revision is really great!
The Burnouts is also sweet.
For the Yeti’s, I’d make the eyes larger, but maybe that’s just the manga-addict in me talking ;P
Nathan, The Storks is Awesome! It should embroider really well too. Nicely Done!
The storks is awesome Nathan, really like the concept. Good job
The Streeters idea came out ridic. So clean!
I’m happy to see a Chicago hat in here! That mark is a timeless look!
And YAY! The Thunder hat is my first submission to the Clink Room, SO happy to see it go far!
sidenote – Thanks, Danny!
Tom: I definitely dig your minimal corruption sub for Chicago. I submitted something with the same theme with a team name called the “Chitown Bozos.” It might be awhile before it makes it’s debut but I won’t spoil it for you. Great sub, love the color-way everything. Reps Chicago well!
A-aron, glad to see you made the Clink Room floor! This guys looks good, but I’d thicken up the lines (or get rid of them altogether) and think about enlarging the eyes. Could you narrow your colors down to just two or three? Looking forward to a redo…
Nice round of submissions.
Aaron: There’s something really bizarre about this. It took me a few seconds to understand what I was seeing, but, one I did, I loved it. There’s something about the character you’ve crafted that is really funky and appealing!
Thanks for the kind words and advice, everyone. I’ll work on the suggested edits. And yes, Casey, the Burners is a Wire reference!
Aussie Ry: I’d say its obvious, but that seems negative and I don’t mean that. You’re design just “works.” It’s not complicated, but everything is just right. Especially like the serifs and how they relate to the knob of the bat.
Jordan: Much improved! Nicely updated!
Tom: I think I could say the same things about yours as I did about Ryan’s. Great. Interesting to see how you and he approached similar ideas completely differently. I could see a cross-country rivalry there. Whereas Ryan’s has a little modern flair, yours looks classic.
Cheers for the Streeters comments guys!
I’m all for cool animated characters (ie. Platys) but sometimes you’ve gotta try out a simple and iconic design. I wanted to keep this as simple and iconic as I could and let the embroidery do the work (much like the great Walbats and Seadevils), hence the roundness of the bat and the serifs, as Nathan mentioned. The slant was an important element to give it flow too. The hardest part was choosing a colourway!… instead of going with a NY inspired colourway I rolled with the good old cha-ching green! So that’s that.
Now onto the rest of this batch!
Aaron – This thing has a somewhat of a tribal feel to it, love the colour palette too! I’m with Mr. Z that this would look great with no outlines at all, blocks of colour is the way to go. Great start!
Nathan – Hat-trick!!!
First off, I was also sketching up a similar idea to your Burnouts entry, but it seems you pulled it off perfectly, well done!
Now that “B” on your Burners design is something else, I love how it’s holding the phone! I sure could have used your Flame making skills for my Embats entry, great work! Did I mention I LOVED THE WIRE! still hands down one of the best tv shows ever made!
That Stork is glorious, I love how you managed to throw a leatherhead on his tiny head, it seems impossible but you pulled it off so well! Overall, great work on all three of these entries!
Jordan – Much better! congrats on your first entry and your first done! Looking forward to your future comp entries and cheers for the Streeters comment!
Tom – It looks like you had a similar iconic monetary idea to mine. Executed very well I might add! Our designs could almost use each others colourways and still look as they were intended. Great work!
ps. for those of you with bad eye-sight like myself, that little Wall Street dude is saying “Chasing Runs And Returns!”
Thanks for the props. I think I should have used the name “Chicago Crooks” to say the same thing, but that’s not the important part.
Casey, on my Illustrator file off to the side I place a design using an “S” as the dollar sign instead of cents. Just change the name to Swindlers, etc. If one communicates better than the other, that’s the one we wanna go with as my final.
Nathan – I really like the Burnouts idea! I agree with the suggestion to take out some smoke. Has that great classic hot-rod feel to it.
Damnnnn, that Baltimore Burners concept is so sick!
Love the Wire, would definitely buy that hat.
