Sucks about the no posts for Wednesday, Thursday, Friday. The worst. We’re working on making it easier to make posts while we’re on the road. Reno required our full attention anyways. TV, print and radio ads all completed in a month! It’s going to be a gonzo rest of the month. Wish us luck. Let’s get to the SSL, I appreciate the self policing that’s been going on with keeping the contests and this collaboration positive. Keep the ball moving forward!

Tim! I love how clean this is and Jay and I always dig military imagery. It’s such rich, iconic territory. When I was in Reno I saw all of there awesome merch and they use a lot of white and silver thread together and it looked fresh. That would look great for this cap. I think this is a one-and-done. Way to go!

T.J.! Love these colors. Love that A. Love the rendering of all the acid/test tube elements. My one comment is that it’s busy but not in content. More in a composition sense. What I mean by that is, keep all the elements. Just compact it. I think you should make the acid pool streaking under the A. Underlining the A. Keep that great rendering trick you did with the refection and all the depth that that gives you. It shouldn’t pool out to right of the test tube is all. Great job!

Great job everyone! Let’s try to wrap up the rest of the entries and re-entries by the end of the week right? Right.

  • Tim – I love how crisp and clean this is. I think with the raised stitching it would look awesome! I think the color scheme and design give it a nice broad appeal. The navy and white is such a classic look.
T.J.- I like how outside-the-box this is. Love the bright green color. What if you used the tube as the crossbar for the “A”? Similar to how it is now, but just take out the red around the tube and let that stand as the crossing bar? I hope that made sense….

  • Yeah, Erik, thats how I originally had it with the tube as the crossbar, but I didnt like how it looked for some reason and I decided to go with the the added red which I thought looked better. I was really excited about the colors, and was trying to get a good balance.
I think I grasp what Casey is telling me, Make a pool under the A as a kind of underline. I had a feeling that maybe it was a bit of a “wide” composition. I originally thought about a pool of acid, but I wanted to capture the essence and power of acid by illustrate it burning through the fabric so I stuck with it. I will give the pool idea a try when I get my computer back. Thanks

  • I gotta say that ACID is now in my top 3 of what I seen in this contest. Crazy hot logo and the colors are sick. Pilots is a nice cap too, even tho its kinda like the Philadelphia Flyers, I like the simple and clean colors. After seein all these cool logos I wish I coulda entered somethin.

  • Nice posts.
The pilots is dope! Clean, simple and it get’s the point across.
Acid drops looks good, but I would change the red and maybe make the brim a acid green, like the acid is leaking on the brim or something.
When I use to skate, I use to acid drop everything, lol.

  • Hey thanks guys
This was my first attempt at Illustrator so “simple” and “clean” was my only option.
Also I really like your color choice T.J., I don’t know how doable or appropriate this is, but what if you started the acid pool at the top of the crown, maybe with some drips or something…kindof like the hair on the sesame street hats if you’ve seen those

  • @ Eli: It would be interesting to see an acid colored brim but the green is only available in a thread and thus I cant do it. Also, before I got the red in there, I tried countless others but the red is best of the bunch IMO. Thanks for the suggestions though.

@ Tim: I havent seen any sesame street hats, Ill have to check them out but wow if I understand it right, that would be wild. Sounds like it might make a cool alternate.

I’m working on the revision as suggested by Casey right now, and I think it does look better. Even though it may not be posted I will send it to Jason and Casey anyway.
