Pirate Charlie is our first official on-field cap offering. We’ve designed around 100 official on-field caps for Major and Minor League Baseball teams. This is just one that we think is awesome.

The Charleston Charlies (West Virginia) was the Pittisburg Pirates AAA franchise from 1971 to 1976.

Many Charleston residents will fondly remember the logo of the Charlies – a smiling baseball wearing a derby hat while smoking a cigar. And check this out: The logo appeared on the front page of the Charleston Gazette displaying a smile if the Charlies won, or a frown if the Charlies lost!

This mash-up concept cap pays tribute to the Charlies and their 1970s’ Pirates affiliation.

  • very nice work! the derby is sharp! i think this is far more compelling and interesting then the current Pirates character logo. Also, this is in that affordable when a person’s making money range! (lol) … On FB i think images of me wearing my winnings are finally starting to surface.

One question, which may be slightly off point, but

How do you guys manage to balance your different activities, energy, life, mind, etc? do you find yourselves always thinking of designs? Do you always have a notebook or paper n’ pen with you?….?

  • I’ve had one of these in my collection since the minute they became available in Charleston. I do some work with the Power via their radio network (I’m the Executive Producer) and, yes, Andy is one of the best and sharpest people not just in baseball but in general.

One of my favorite hats I own.
